 *Successful Intracoronary Stent Extraction in a Rare and High-Risk Case*

Chennai, 03rd July, 2024: Apollo OMR Hospital has reached a significant milestone in cardiac surgery with the successful execution of a rare and high-risk intracoronary stent extraction procedure. This groundbreaking surgery highlights Apollo Hospitals' commitment to pioneering advancements in medical care and delivering exceptional outcomes for patients with complex conditions.

Coronary stents are typically inserted to treat patients with minimal coronary artery blockages, a common and low-risk procedure. However, intracoronary stent infections, though extremely rare, can lead to severe complications and life-threatening situations.

In this particular case, a 76-year-old patient admitted at Apollo Hospitals in Perungudi, OMR, after experiencing a persistent fever post-discharge from an outside hospital where he had undergone an emergency intracoronary stent insertion for a heart attack. Initial assessments by Dr. Kannaiyan, General Physician and Dr. Madhuprabhudas, Consultant Cardiologist revealed an infection in the intracoronary stent, which had eroded the coronary artery and posed a risk of rupture, extending to the aorta wall.

Diagnosing the severity of the condition, Dr. M.M. Yusuf, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, led a multidisciplinary team to perform an urgent excision of the intracoronary stent and infected cavity, along with coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG). This complex and high-risk procedure required the collaborative efforts of specialists including Dr. Kalyanaraman (Consultant Cardiac Anaesthetist), Dr. Sendhurnambi (Consultant Infectious Diseases), Dr. Pratheema (Consultant Intensivist), as well as Dr. Kannaiyan and Dr. Madhuprabhudas.

Dr M M Yusuf, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, Apollo Hospitals, stated, ‘’The patient underwent a cardiac CT scan that revealed infection in the intracoronary stent. The infection had eroded the coronary artery which was about to rupture (tear) and was also extending to the wall of the aorta. This is a very high risk and rare procedure with even more risk on an elderly patient. Review of global medical literature and records confirms that there have been very few patients taken up for surgery under these conditions, and even in those rare cases the mortality risk has been more than 60%. The risks and benefits of this complex procedure was explained to the patient and his family who were doctors as well”.

Following spectacular celebrations in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and an opulent international cruise in Italy, the Ambani family has once again captured national attention with this philanthropic endeavour.

Initially planned to be held at Swami Vivekanand Vidyamandir in Palghar, the mass wedding ceremony was relocated and took place today at the Reliance Corporate Park in Thane. The event highlighted the Ambani family's dedication to providing an unforgettable experience for the happy couples by enabling them to celebrate their union in grandeur, a luxury that would have been beyond their means.

The mass wedding marked the beginning of the wedding festivities for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. It brought together over 50 underprivileged couples from the Palghar area, located about 100 kilometers from Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by nearly 800 people, including family members of the couples, local social workers, and community members. This initiative is a testament to the Ambani family's commitment to philanthropy and their belief in uplifting the underprivileged.

The Ambani family has always upheld the timeless Indic dictum, "Manav seva hi Madhav seva" – "Service to humanity is service to God." They have a tradition of beginning every major family occasion by providing for and serving others, reinforcing their commitment to the community. Smt. Nita Ambani and Shri Mukesh Ambani, accompanied by their family members, attended the function and extended their heartfelt wishes to the couples, adding a personal touch to the auspicious occasion.

2024-ம் ஆண்டின் இறுதிக்குள்  பேட்டரியால் இயக்கப்படும் 123,000 மின்சார வாகனங்கள் (பயணியர் கார்கள்) இந்தியாவில் விற்பனை செய்யப்படக் கூடும். 2023-ம் ஆண்டில் விற்பனையான ~83,000 யூனிட்களோடு ஒப்பிடுகையில் முந்தைய ஆண்டைவிட 47.9% வளர்ச்சியாக இது இருக்குமென மதிப்பிடப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. 

64% சந்தை பங்குடன் டாடா மோட்டார்ஸ் இத்துறையில் முதன்மை வகிக்கிறது; 2023-ம் ஆண்டில் மிக அதிகமாக விற்பனையாகும் மின்சார வாகனம் என்ற பெருமையை டாடா நெக்ஸா EV பெறுகிறது. 

இந்நாட்டில் இவ்வாகனங்கள் விற்பனையில் ஏறக்குறைய பாதி இப்பிராந்தியத்திலிருந்து வருவதால் இந்தியாவின் மின்வாகன விற்பனையில் தென்னிந்தியா முதலிடம் வகிக்கிறது. 

OEM நிறுவனங்கள், பாகங்களை தயாரித்து வழங்கும் நிறுவனங்கள், பேட்டரி/செல் உற்பத்தி நிறுவனங்கள் தமிழ்நாட்டில் அதிக எண்ணிக்கையில் தொடர்ந்து அதிகரித்து வருவதால், மின்சார வாகனங்களது விற்பனையின் வளர்ச்சி மற்றும் இந்தியாவில் மின்சார வாகனங்களுக்கான ஆராய்ச்சி மற்றும் மேம்பாடு செயல்பாடுகளுக்கு மைய ஆற்றல் அமைவிடமாக தமிழ்நாடு மாநிலம் திகழ்கிறது. 

தற்போது தமிழ்நாட்டில் ஹுண்டாய் மோட்டார் மற்றும் ஸ்டெல்லண்டிஸ் ஆகிய நிறுவனங்கள் பயணியருக்கான மின்சார வாகனங்களின் தயாரிப்பை தொடங்கியிருக்கின்றன. ரெனால்டு-நிஸான் மற்றும் BMW போன்ற பிற முக்கியமான ஆட்டோமோட்டிவ் நிறுவனங்கள் இம்மாநிலத்தில் விரைவில் மின்வாகனங்களுக்கான தயாரிப்பில் இறங்கி அவைகளை தயாரித்து வழங்குமென எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகின்றன. 

பேட்டரி மட்டுமன்றி மிக முக்கியமான மின் வாகன பாகங்கள் உட்பட 2030-ம் ஆண்டிற்குள் மின்வாகன தயாரிப்பிற்கு அவசியமான 60-70% பாகங்களை உள்நாட்டு அளவிலேயே தயாரிப்பதை OEM நிறுவனங்கள் இலக்காகக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.

Highlights from the report by Frost & Sullivan on India’s EV market:

Over 123,000 units of Battery Electric Vehicles (passenger cars) are likely to be sold in India by end of 2024; recording an estimated y-o-y growth of 47.9% as compared to ~83,000 units sold in 2023.

Tata Motors leads the way with over 64% market share; Tata Nexon EV was the highest selling EV in 2023.

South India leads India EV sales with almost half the sales in the country coming from the region.  

The growing presence of OEMs, component suppliers and battery/cell manufacturing companies in Tamil Nadu makes the State a central force for the growth of EV sales and the EV R&D hub in India. 

Presently, Hyundai Motor and Stellantis have commenced production of EV passenger vehicles in Tamil Nadu, and other prominent automotive companies like Renault-Nissan and BMW are expected to establish themselves and produce EVs in the State.

OEMs are aiming at localising the production of 60-70% EV components by 2030, including critical EV components, apart from the battery.

With Citroën being the title partner of India EV 2024, Shishir Mishra, Brand Director of Citroen India delivered a keynote address, sharing his views on building a conducive EV ecosystem in India. He said, "By prioritizing innovation, investing in infrastructure, and implementing supportive policies, India can establish itself as a global leader in the electric vehicle industry. 200 + PINK AUTO PROJECT : 

Providing income to Women creates 6 times more impact in the community than to men. Rotary Clubs of Chennai have many projects done in the area of Women Empowerment. Out of which the Most successful one was the Pink Auto Project which had provided livelihood to women in a dignified way. 

Past District Governor Rtn Chandramohan  who conceived the project and started it’s implementation in the mid of 2020 when Covid was on the rage. Over the past 3 years 101 Pink Auto Rickshaws were provided and over 200 + women were trained in driving of Auto rickshaws.

How the Beneficiaries are chosen :       

200+ Women and especially Single Parent women from economically challenged background were selected for training. Of this 100 were selected based on the various fair and transparent eligibility criteria made known to the trainees.   

50% of the cost of the Autorickshaw was borne by Rotarians, Friends of Rotary and CSR Contributions

To ensure sustainability of regular income and stewardship of the Auto rickshaw continuously used for the said purpose, balance 50% was paid through Bank and Private Vehicle Loan which will be repaid with nominal interest within 3 years.  

   These 100 families are thankful to Rotary Clubs of Chennai and are now proud owners of a vehicle which brings in continuous daily income to their households.

  During the installation Function, these 70 + Pink Auto Rickshaws along with the beneficiaries that are currently used were displayed. Similarly, within the next 12 months, It is proposed to train 200 more women with 100 new Auto Rickshaws are being donated the Rotary Clubs of the new District 3233.

1000 plus smart Boards are being planned to provide to deserving schools.

Chennai, June 28, 2024: Bharti Airtel (‘Airtel’) has maintained that the mobile Average Revenue per User (ARPU) needs to be upwards of INR 300, to enable a financially healthy business model for Telcos in India. We believe that this level of ARPU will enable the substantial investments required in network technology and spectrum and offer a modest return on capital. 

In this light, we welcome the announcements in the industry to repair tariffs. Airtel will also revise its mobile tariffs as indicated below, from July 3rd. Coming with a 100% guaranteed return of premium benefit on survival, Kotak Gen2Gen Protect offers a flexibility of transferring the complete risk cover to the child, when the parent (primary life insured) turns sixty or sixty-five years of age. Addionally, this risk cover stays on with the child till the age of sixty.
