Since its launch in 2019, the multi-pronged program has focused on driving a 360-degree overhaul in Indian Squash by multiplying the potential of athletes and providing them with the necessary support, infrastructure and opportunities. It is dedicated to guide players to finish at the top of the podium at prestigious international events, including the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games in 2026, while also laying the groundwork for participation in the LA Olympics in 2028

The new features that have been added to the Squash Podium Program include


HCL National Doubles Championship: After witnessing recent success in the doubles category, HCL is reviving this category after 17 years to support the Indian players It is the first event planned as a part of Squash Podium Program and is being held from 13-15 May at Indian Squash Academy, Chennai. The championship is bringing together a pair of top- seeded players including Abhay Singh with Velvan Senthilkumar, Pooja Arthi with Rathika S competing in the male and female category respectively. The exciting pairing of Abhay Singh with Joshna Chinappa and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu with Rathika S. will be seen in the Mixed Doubles category The winners will be representing India at the Asian Squash Doubles Championship scheduled from July 4-7 in Johor, Malaysia


HCL Squash Tour & Junior National Events: Six international PSA Challenger tournaments will be organised in new cities including Indore, Kolkata, Goa, etc. These squash tournaments will give both junior and senior players exposure to an international squash tournament and enhance their world ranking. The first PSA tournament is lined up from May 22-27 in Indore at the heritage campus of the famous Daly College


NexGen Squash HCL will support the identified potential junior players by providing them access to good coaches, international exposure, and technical and scientific training. The strategic Brain Training Program (a 6-month-long neurofeedback training to improve players cognitive skills) will focus on assessing their strengths and weaknesses to ultimately drive improvement in their performance. A trained sports psychologist will be closely working with the players. By undergoing this training with consistency and hard work, a player can expect improved memory, focus, body control, balance, and enhanced cognitive agility which will further help in upping their game


Grassroots Squash. Through this initiative, HCL aims to introduce squash to children from a young age to increase the number of players between the ages of 6 to 12 years. Under the pilot program being launched this year, HCL will be tying up with schools across the country. starting with Noida and Chennai

High-Performance Camp for Asian & World Junior Championships: Selection Trials will be organised for Asian/World Junior in U13, U15, U17 & U19 categories leading to the selection of the top 16 players who will undergo a high-performance camp for 1 week in Chennai with Indian coaches and British Squash Coach, Chris Ryder


Referee Development Program. This includes a referee mentorship program in which mentors will accompany and assess referees during squash tournaments. This will also be followed by their training, certification, and international exposure


Coach Development Program: A four-week long coach-development clinic will be conducted in four different cities. The coaches will get the opportunity to train and learn from an international tutor along with a top Indian coach. These coaches will also be a part of the HCL's grassroots program and will get hands-on experience in training the budding players Apart from this, through strategic information dissemination and fan engagement initiatives, the new HCL Squash Podium Program will elevate the profile of squash in India

Subscription Tenure and Benefits

The battery lease term is 120,000 kilometres or 8 years for cargo vehicles and 150,000 kilometres or 8 years for passenger vehicles.

After reaching the designated mileage, the monthly rent reduces to INR 0.

The subscription includes battery replacements at the same rental amount after the initial lease term.

Basically a Pan India event, it was held at 11 major cities of the country with 20 songs rendered by 100 voices that presented a soul - stirring Rabindra Sangeet. Arundhati Deb from Kolkata was the brain behind the conceptualization and composition of the melodious tunes.

Post the calls, her daughter comes in and offers to take over her mother's work calls for the day, showcasing her eagerness to help her mother rest. A montage follows, depicting the daughter diligently taking calls, taking notes, and attempting to handle her mother's workload. The mother is amused and proud to see her daughter's enthusiasm and effort. During a conversation over a meal, the daughter realizes that her mother's job involves providing advice and understanding people's needs to guide them appropriately. Doctors Successfully Perform India's First Robotic CRS with HIPEC for Peritoneal Surface Cancer


The patient underwent minimal invasive robotic surgery, is now cancer free. 

Chennai,  May 9th, 2024  In a major medical breakthrough, surgical oncologists at Apollo Cancer Centre (ACC) has successfully performed India's first Robotic Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) with Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) for a peritoneal surface cancer. This minimally invasive, robotic-assisted approach marks a paradigm shift in treating Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP), an aggressive appendix cancer, offering patients with a new standard of care, enabling faster recovery and improved quality of life.

Dr. Ajit Pai, Senior Consultant in Surgical Oncology and Robotic Surgery, Apollo Cancer Centre, Chennai along with his team, spearheaded this first-of-its-kind approach. The collaborative clinical expertise and unwavering dedication to transformative tech innovations at ACC, were instrumental in achieving this remarkable success.


A female patient, aged 51, was diagnosed with bilateral ovarian masses, and had  extensive surgical intervention, including the removal of the uterus, ovaries, appendix, and part of the omentum. Subsequent histopathological examination revealed a high-grade mucinous tumour of the appendix with pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP), necessitating additional surgery. The patient was found to have residual mucinous implants (gelatinous deposits that remain in the abdomen post-surgery for appendicular mucinous tumors) in the pelvis and around the cecum (first part of the colon).


Due to the peculiar tendency of the appendix cancer to spread to the lining of the patient's abdomen (peritoneum), Dr Ajit Pai and team performed minimally invasive Robotic Cytoreductive Surgery (to reduce the amount of cancer cells in the abdominal cavity) with right hemicolectomy (removing the colon which bears the appendix) and complete mesocolic excision (surgery for treating cancer arising from the colon and appendix) and peritonectomy and total omentectomy, along with Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (heated chemotherapy with a chemo drug) eliminating any possible microscopic residual tumours inside the abdomen. 


Traditionally, CRS/HIPEC has been performed as an open and an extensive operation, with a 10-12-inch incision associated with prolonged hospitalization. The Robotic CRS approach offers significant advantages as it is minimally invasive; the clinicians made use of tiny 8mm incisions for the robotic instruments, minimizing pain, blood loss, scarring and discomfort. Additionally, a single 5cm incision was used for tumour removal and the delivery of HIPEC. This novel approach translated to a faster recovery and a quicker return to normal life for the patient. At one year follow up, she remains in perfect health and cancer free.


Dr. Ajit Pai, Senior Consultant in Surgical Oncology and Robotic Surgery, Apollo Cancer Centre, said, Robotic CRS offers a transformative approach, requiring expertise in traditional and robotic techniques for precise tumor resections. With reduced post-operative morbidity, minimal access, and quicker recovery, this method is a viable choice for patients whose cancer cells have spread to and implanted on the peritoneal surfaces in a limited manner. We are thrilled with the successful clinical   outcome and the potential this approach holds for improving the lives of patients battling peritoneal surface cancers, including those from ovarian, colonic and gastric malignancies.

The estimated incidence of pseudomyxoma peritonei is approximately 1 to 4 out of a million, annually. Patients have an average age of 53 years at the time of diagnosis.
