Launch of Kauvery Integrated Stroke Centre (KISC)

Stroke or Brain Attack

What Is a Stroke?

A stroke or brain attack occurs when a blood vessel to the brain is blocked (Ischaemic) or leaks blood (Haemorrhagic).

In either situation, the brain does not receive enough blood and oxygen, resulting in damage and death of brain cells.

The patient will have symptoms related to the lack of blood supply, mostly weakness of limbs.

Why the Hurry? - Because Time Is Brain

Each second that the brain does not receive proper blood flow and oxygen, 30,000 brain cells die.

To reduce the damage done, the patient should be taken to a hospital that is well-equipped to treat stroke.

A stroke or paralysis can be reversed if the patient reaches on time before any critical damage to the brain happens.

Don't waste time. The earlier the patient reaches a stroke-ready hospital the better.

"Clot Buster" medicines and procedures like Mechanical Thrombectomy can effectively reverse a stroke.
