Trichy, September 11, 2026: Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the CSR arm of Dalmia Bharat Ltd., one of India’s leading cement companies, inaugurated tailoring skill development programmes for rural women in Ariyalur and Dalmiapuram, Tamil Nadu, under its Gram Parivartan initiative. Tailoring has been identified as a viable livelihood avenue that offers flexibility, particularly for women who may prefer to work from home or establish small-scale enterprises within their communities. In Ariyalur, the programme was inaugurated by Mr. Priya Ranjan, Unit Head, and Mr. Veerapandian P, Plant HR Head, in the presence of community leaders for women from Thamarikulam village. At Dalmiapuram, the Women Skill Tailoring Centre was inaugurated by Mr. Mahendra Kumar K, GM – Logistics, Dalmiapuram along with community leaders and officials.

Both locations commenced the initiative with 50 women participants each and will train 100 women at each location by March 31, 2027.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. K Vinayagamurthi, Unit Head, Dalmiapuram, said “At Dalmia Bharat, we believe that women’s economic empowerment is an important pillar of sustainable community development. Skill development for women can play an important role in strengthening household incomes while fostering greater confidence and independence. Through initiatives such as the tailoring training programme, we aim to provide women in the surrounding communities with practical skills that can translate into sustainable livelihood opportunities.”

Mr. Priya Ranjan, Unit Head, DCBL, Ariyalur added, “Creating accessible livelihood opportunities for rural women is key to building stronger and more resilient communities. By equipping women with tailoring skills, we aim to enable them to pursue self-employment, earn from home and contribute meaningfully to their household incomes.”

The initiative is part of DBF’s broader commitment to promoting inclusive and sustainable community development through interventions focused on skill development, livelihoods and women’s empowerment. By enabling rural women to acquire income-generating skills, the programme seeks to strengthen their economic participation and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the community.
