Apollo Proton Cancer Centre Trains International Doctors for Proton Beam Therapy.

Chennai, March 21, 2024: Apollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC), the first and largest Proton Therapy Centre in South Asia and the Middle East, is poised to revolutionize global healthcare. In collaboration with Belgium-based IBA, a global leader in proton therapy, APCC, in its series of training programs on PBT, recently completed imparting training to its first batch of eminent doctors from Indonesia and Vietnam. Through this initiative, India becomes the first country in Southeast Asia to host a specialized proton beam therapy training program for international oncologists.

Being the first Indian cancer centre to launch the training program in PBT, it marks a new chapter in collaborative cancer treatment and solidifies its position as a front-runner in knowledge sharing and advancing global cancer care. Similar training programs are in the pipeline for oncologists from Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Slovenia and Philippines.

Proton Beam Therapy has emerged as a highly precise and effective radiation treatment for various cancers, offering targeted tumor treatment while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. So far, APCC has treated over 1400 patients, the youngest being a 10-month-old boy, and has achieved remarkable clinical outcomes, elevating the quality of life of cancer warriors.

IndusInd International Holdings Limited (IIHL) to partner with Invesco and acquire 60% stake in Invesco India Asset Management Limited (IAMI)

Mumbai, 9th April 2024 – IndusInd International Holdings Limited (“IIHL”), a Mauritius

based Investment Holding Company with several investments in banking and financial

assets, and Invesco Ltd. announced today that they have entered into a definitive

agreement to form a joint venture (“JV”), and IIHL to acquire a 60% stake in Invesco

Asset Management India Limited (“IAMI”).

IAMI is the Indian arm of Invesco Ltd., a leading independent global investment

management firm with over USD 1.6 trillion in assets under management. IIHL is the

promoter entity of IndusInd Bank, the 5th largest private sector bank in India listed on

BSE & NSE and is regulated by Reserve Bank of India. Invesco will retain a 40 percent

stake in the newly formed JV, and both IIHL and Invesco will have sponsor status.

IAMI is the fifth largest foreign asset manager and the 17th largest domestic asset

manager in India with combined onshore and offshore advisory and assets under

management of INR 853.93 bn as of March 31, 2024, and a presence in 40 cities

across the country.

Both partners bring their respective strengths to the venture with Invesco’s portfolio of

As the flagship CSR initiative of Metropolis, MedEngage serves as a holistic medical outreach program that nurtures young medical talent in India. At this year’s summit, a total of scholarships worth INR 1.7 crore were awarded to 301 medical students, out of which 29 students were presented with research grants. Additionally, medical luminaries from different specialties also participated in the event, contributing to the recognition of the nation's emerging medical talent.

A key highlight is that 60% of the scholarship recipients are women, emphasizing the program's commitment to gender diversity and inclusivity in the medical field. Furthermore, in line with the initiative to support government efforts in uplifting aspirational districts, around 60 students were selected from such districts, reflecting the program's dedication to societal development and equitable access to opportunities. The entire selection process is managed by Deloitte and involves a thorough and competitive procedure for choosing scholarship recipients. Additionally, an eminent jury from the medical fraternity evaluated candidates for research grants, fostering a culture of research and innovation.

*Chennai, April 10, 2024:* Rela Hospital, a leading multispecialty hospital in the city, has inaugurated Movement Disorder & DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) Troubleshooting Clinic for Parkinson’s patients. Parkinson’s disease is a brain disorder that causes unintended or uncontrollable movements, such as shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination. It occurs when nerve cells in a part of the brain – known as the basal ganglia, responsible for controlling movement, become impaired and or die.

Although there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease, there are medications, and surgical treatments to provide relief to patients. Implantation of DBS is usually recommended when patients do not respond well to medications. DBS is like a pacemaker for the brain. While pacemakers send electrical signals to the heart, DBS sends signals to the brain. These signals can help in getting the symptoms under control and thus improve the quality of life of patients. However, DBS may develop snags, produce unwanted effects or require optimization . Troubleshooting clinics will help in maximizing the benefits of deep brain stimulation.

In his comments *Prof. Mohamed Rela,* said, “Parkinson’s is an age-related progressive disorder of the brain. It affects one in a hundred people who are 60 years or above. Though there is no permanent cure for the condition, patients affected with this disease can lead a normal life with advanced medical intervention. In his address, *Dr. Shankar Balakrishnan, Clinical Lead, Department of Intervention Neurology, Rela Hospital,* said that early diagnosis and treatment are important for the better medical outcomes in Parkinson’s patients. “Although most people with Parkinson’s first develop the disease around age 60 or older, about 5% to 10% experience its onset before the age of 50. Some cases of Parkinson’s disease appear to be hereditary, and a few cases can be traced to the environment. We should pay special attention to the people who are in the at-risk age group for the four main symptoms: 1) tremor in hands, arms, legs, jaw, or head; 2) muscle stiffness, where muscle remains contracted for a long time, 3) slowness of movement, and 4) impaired balance and coordination, sometimes leading to falls.”

He added that this disease is primarily genetic but exposure to toxic air, water, and metals in food is also linked to its development. Besides medical treatment, it is important for the patients to undergo physical, occupational, and speech therapies, have a healthy diet, exercise regularly to strengthen muscles and improve balance, flexibility, and coordination. They can also try massage therapy to reduce tension, and yoga to increase stretching and flexibility.

IndusInd International Holdings Limited (IIHL) to partner with Invesco and acquire 60% stake in Invesco India Asset Management Limited (IAMI)

Chennai, 9th April 2024 – IndusInd International Holdings Limited (“IIHL”), a Mauritius based Investment Holding Company with several investments in banking and financial assets, and Invesco Ltd. announced today that they have entered into a definitive agreement to form a joint venture (“JV”), and IIHL to acquire a 60% stake in Invesco Asset Management India Limited (“IAMI”).

IAMI is the Indian arm of Invesco Ltd., a leading independent global investment management firm with over USD 1.6 trillion in assets under management. IIHL is the promoter entity of IndusInd Bank, the 5th largest private sector bank in India listed on BSE & NSE and is regulated by Reserve Bank of India. Invesco will retain a 40 percent stake in the newly formed JV, and both IIHL and Invesco will have sponsor status.

IAMI is the fifth largest foreign asset manager and the 17th largest domestic asset manager in India with combined onshore and offshore advisory and assets under management of INR 853.93 bn as of March 31, 2024, and a presence in 40 cities across the country.

Vedanta debt to be divided among demerged firms in ratio of assets

Mining conglomerate Vedanta is on track for the demerger of its key businesses, including aluminium, into separate listed companies and allocation of debt across the demerged entities would be done in proportion to their assets, sources familiar with the matter said.

Vedanta is in advanced stages of engagement with its lenders on the issue, and the process has proceeded smoothly, they said.

There is clarity about the allocation of debt across entities after the demerger. "The debt will get divided amongst the resulting demerged entities in the ratio of assets getting allocatedget allocated to the company would be in direct proportion to the book value of the assets held by it. This is to ensure that the transaction is tax-neutral.

Vedanta had in September last year announced the creation of demerger of metals, power, aluminium, and oil and gas businesses to unlock potential value. After the exercise, six independent verticals - Vedanta Aluminium, Vedanta Oil & Gas, Vedanta Power, Vedanta Steel and Ferrous Materials, Vedanta Base Metals and Vedanta Limited - will be created. For every share of Vedanta, shareholders will receive one share of each of the five newly listed companies.

After the demerger, the businesses of Hindustan Zinc as well as the electronics business will remain with Vedanta Limited. Immediately after obtaining the NOCs, the application will be moved to NCLT.

SBICAPs has been onboard to represent lenders with respect to debt allocation and they are hopeful to obtain the NOCs at the earliest, sources said. In parallel to the demerger, Vedanta is also undertaking a deleveraging programme to cut debt at the group level by $3 billion in the next three years, taking its net debt level below $9 billion.

The deleveraging is expected to be funded largely by robust internal cash flows, further supported by proceeds of strategic asset sales and potential equity partnerships.

"The demerger is expected to simplify the Group's corporate structure with sector-focused independent businesses. Each of our businesses is at a global scale hence the board decided to go for a demerger. We intend to build a corporate structure with asset ownership and entrepreneurship mind-set, where each company would chart out its growth trajectory.

"The demerger will give global investors, including sovereign wealth funds, retail investors, and strategic investors, direct investment opportunities in dedicated pure-play companies. With listed equity and self-driven management teams, the demerger would also provide individual units a platform to pursue strategic agendas more freely and better align with customers, investment cycles, and end markets," Vedanta had said in its demerger announcement.
